Yonto Pro
Free and Pro
Section titled “Free and Pro”Free costs nothing, always. It has one source of your own, the built-in demo library until you add yours, the whole player with History and Continue playing, and Yonto Player on TVs, phones and tablets. Set up from your phone, which fills in a TV’s forms from your phone, is free too.
On our website, Pro is US$7.47 instead of US$14.95 while the offer runs, one payment, not a subscription. In the App Store it costs the App Store’s price in your currency, and the website’s offers don’t apply there. It has everything in Free, as many sources as you like, and installing plugins, including ones you write yourself. One Pro licence works on up to 5 devices at a time. Bought on our website, it works on every Yonto Player app. Bought in the App Store, it works on the iPhones and iPads on your Apple Account, and on every other Yonto Player app once you add your email.
Pro includes no content: Yonto Player provides none, and Pro is the price of the app.
In Settings, the Yonto Pro row says what this device has: “Free: one source” or “Unlimited sources and plugins”.
What asks for Pro
Section titled “What asks for Pro”On Free, adding a second source of your own asks for Pro, whether you add it from Add source or from a repo: “Free has one source of your own. Get Pro to add as many as you like; the ones you have stay.”
Installing a plugin asks too: “Installing a plugin needs Pro. Plugins you already have keep working and updating.”
While a promotion on Pro runs, the dialog says it under the question, for example “US$7.47 instead of US$14.95”. Get Pro in that dialog opens Settings, Yonto Pro.
Buy Pro
Section titled “Buy Pro”Buy Pro on the pricing page opens the buy page. You can also buy it from the app:
- On an Android phone or tablet, go to Settings, Yonto Pro, and choose Get Pro. It opens the buy page in your browser. Under it, the page says Pro’s price: “US$14.95, one payment, on the website. Your key comes by email.”
- On a TV, Settings, Yonto Pro shows a QR code: “US$14.95, one payment. Scan to buy Pro on your phone. Your key comes by email.”
Beside it, the TV shows “On your phone or computer, go to” and the same page’s address,
account.yonto.app/buy/yonto/pro, to type instead; during an offer the address can end in a code, such as?code=OCT50, which is part of it. - On an iPhone or iPad, you buy Pro in the App Store, without leaving the app; see Buy Pro in the App Store.
While a promotion on Pro runs, the phone and tablet say it above Get Pro, and the TV beside the QR code, over its address, for example “US$7.47 instead of US$14.95”, and its last day if it has an end, such as “Offer runs until December 31, 2026.” Then the line that says how to pay leaves the price out. Yonto asks the licence service for the price each time you open Yonto Pro; if it can’t reach the service, it shows the price it last had, or none.
On the buy page, we sell Pro ourselves, and Stripe processes the payment, so we never see your card. Pro is sold there only to buyers in Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Japan, Macao, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, Switzerland, Taiwan and the United States, and the buy page lists them.
When the payment goes through, the page says your licence key is on its way to the address you paid with. It can take a minute, so check your spam folder if it has not arrived. The email is called “Your Yonto licence key”.
Keep that email. You need the key to add a device, and devices you have already activated keep working without it.
Buy Pro in the App Store
Section titled “Buy Pro in the App Store”On an iPhone or iPad, go to Settings, Yonto Pro. Get Pro shows the App Store’s price in your currency, “one payment through the App Store”. Choose it and confirm the purchase as for any app. Pro turns on straight away, and the page says “Pro is on. Thanks for buying it.”
Apple takes the payment, so at first there is no key, no email from us and no account page; adding your email gives you all three. If the purchase needs approval first, for example from a parent, the page says “Your purchase is waiting for approval. Pro turns on once it’s approved.”
Restore purchases, under it, says “Bought Pro on the App Store before? Get it back on this device.” Use it on a new iPhone or iPad, or after reinstalling Yonto Player, with the same Apple Account. On another iPhone or iPad, this turns Pro on without a key.
Add your email
Section titled “Add your email”While Pro from the App Store is on, Settings, Yonto Pro on an iPhone or iPad has a section, Add your email: “To use Pro on your TV and your other Yonto Player apps, manage your devices, and get a code if you forget the Master PIN.”
- Enter your address under Email and choose Send link.
- The page says “Check you@example.com for a link to finish.”, with your address.
- Open the link in that email, on any device. It adds your App Store licence to that address’s account, making one if you have none, and signs you in to the account page.
From then on, Pro from the App Store works like a licence bought on our website. Your account lists it and its devices, where you can remove one, gives you Master PIN unlock codes, and gives you a licence key with Need a key, to add a TV or another device? Get one. With that key, turn Pro on on a TV, an Android phone or tablet, or the Mac, as below. So one App Store purchase covers every Yonto Player app, up to 5 devices at a time.
A licence has one email. Once it has one, Send link says “This licence already has an email address.”: sign in to your account with that address instead. “That doesn’t look like an email address.” means the address has a typo.
Turn Pro on: phone, tablet or iPhone
Section titled “Turn Pro on: phone, tablet or iPhone”With a key, either way works, on an iPhone or iPad too. There the page says “Have a licence key? Enter it below.”
- Open the link in the email on the device that has Yonto Player. Yonto Player opens, turns Pro on, and its Yonto Pro page says “Pro is on. Thanks for buying it.”
- Or type the key. Go to Settings, Yonto Pro, enter it under Licence key, and choose Activate.
Opened on a computer, the email’s link shows a code to scan with your phone, and the key to type in instead. If the device already has Pro, opening the link leaves it as it is.
Once Pro is on, the page says “Pro is on for this device.”
Turn Pro on: TV
Section titled “Turn Pro on: TV”A TV has no email and typing on it is slow, so the easy way is to finish on your phone. No phone at hand? Type the key with the remote instead.
- On the TV, go to Settings, Yonto Pro, and choose Activate with your phone.
- The TV shows Activate Yonto Pro, an address (
account.yonto.app/activate) and a code, with a QR code beside them. - On your phone, scan the QR code, or go to the address and enter the code, then choose Continue.
- The page asks “Add a device to your Yonto licence?” and names the device that asked. Only continue if it is the TV in front of you.
- Enter your licence key and choose Add this device.
- The page says “The device is added”, and within a few seconds the TV says “Pro is on. Thanks for buying it.” It then goes back to Yonto Pro, which says “Pro is on for this device.”
A code lasts ten minutes, and the TV shows how long it has left. When it runs out, the TV replaces it with a new one, or shows a Get a new code button.
Or type the key with the remote
Section titled “Or type the key with the remote”The TV’s Yonto Pro page says “Have a licence key? Confirm it on your phone, or type it below with the remote.” Choose Licence key, type the key with the remote, and choose Activate. Pro turns on and the page says “Pro is on for this device.” A key that is refused says why under Activate, with the same messages as on a phone (see Troubleshooting).
Devices
Section titled “Devices”A licence bought on our website is on up to 5 devices at a time, across every Yonto Player app: TVs, phones, tablets, iPhones and iPads together. Each device you activate takes one place. Activating again on a device that is already on the licence does not take another, and neither does reinstalling Yonto Player on the same device.
Each time a device is added, we email you “A device was added to your Yonto licence”. If that was not you, remove it.
When all 5 places are taken, activating says:
- In the app: “That licence is on as many devices as it allows. Remove one on your account page, then try again.”
- On the activate page, for a TV: “Your licence already has as many devices as it allows. Remove one from your account first.”
Pro bought in the App Store has the same 5 places, across every Yonto Player app once you add your email. When they are full, buying or restoring it says “Pro from the App Store is on as many devices as it allows. Add your email on a device that has it, then remove one on your account page, or write to support@yonto.app.” So on an iPhone or iPad that has Pro, add your email if you have not, then remove a device as below. Or write to support@yonto.app and we move it for you.
To free a place, sign in to your account and choose Remove next to the device, under Devices. The page asks once more whether to remove it: choose Remove again. The place is free at once, so you can activate the new device straight away. The removed device keeps Pro until it next checks in with the licence service (see Offline).
Your account
Section titled “Your account”Your account is at account.yonto.app. There is no password. Enter the email you bought with, or the one you added to Pro from the App Store, and choose Email me a link. Open the link in the email and choose Continue to your account. The link works once, for 15 minutes.
The account page, Your licences, shows your licence, its devices (for example “Devices (2 of 5)”), and Lost your key? Issue a new one.
From the app, Settings, Yonto Pro, Your account opens it on an Android phone or tablet.
Pro bought in the App Store has an account once you add your email; on an iPhone or iPad, sign in to it in your browser.
On a TV with Pro, Your account says “Scan to manage your devices, or get a new key, on your phone.” over a QR code of that page, with its address, account.yonto.app/account, beside it.
Lost your key
Section titled “Lost your key”Pro bought in the App Store has no key to lose: on an iPhone or iPad, choose Restore purchases on Settings, Yonto Pro (see Buy Pro in the App Store). For a key to use on another Yonto Player app, add your email, then choose Need a key, to add a TV or another device? Get one on the account page.
We keep only a scrambled copy of your key, so we cannot send it again. Instead you get a new one:
- Sign in to your account, with a link to the email you bought with or added.
- Choose Lost your key? Issue a new one.
- The page shows Your new Yonto key, once. Copy it now: it is not shown again if you reload or leave the page. It also shows a QR code to scan with your phone or tablet, which turns Pro on there.
Your old key stops working. Reloading the page does not issue another key: it says Your Yonto key was already shown, with Issue another key in case you did not copy it.
A new key does not turn Pro off on any device, whichever key activated it. Under Devices on this licence the page says “A new key doesn’t sign anyone out. If you think someone else used your old key, remove the devices you don’t recognise.” Choose Remove next to any device you do not recognise, then Remove again on the page that asks. A removed device keeps Pro until it next checks in with the licence service (see Offline).
The proof we need is that you can open email at the address you bought with, or the one you added. If you no longer can, write to support@yonto.app.
Offline
Section titled “Offline”Pro is checked on your device, so it keeps working with no internet.
Turning Pro on needs the internet. If Yonto Player cannot reach the licence service then, it says “Couldn’t reach Yonto’s licence service. Try again in a moment.”
About once a month, Yonto Player checks in with the licence service when it starts. A device that cannot reach the service keeps Pro. Only the service saying the licence was refunded or revoked, or that this device was removed, turns Pro off.
Refunds
Section titled “Refunds”You can have a full refund within 7 days of buying on the buy page, for any reason. Reply to your receipt, or email support@yonto.app from the address you bought with. Pro bought in the App Store is refunded by Apple, not us: ask at reportaproblem.apple.com. The refund policy has the details.
After a full refund, from us or from Apple, Pro turns off the next time Yonto Player checks in (see Offline), and Yonto Player goes back to Free:
- One source of your own stays on. The rest stay saved but are turned off, and say “Off · needs Pro” in Settings, Sources.
- Installing a plugin needs Pro again. Plugins you already installed keep working and updating.
- Your History and settings are untouched.
Activating with a refunded key says “That licence was refunded or revoked.” A key whose licence has nothing current, such as one whose time has run out, turns nothing on: the app says “That licence has nothing current on it, so Pro stays off.”, and the page for activating a TV says “That licence has nothing current on it.”
- Troubleshooting, for every message activating can show.
